Opinion On “News Corp.’s News of the World Roiled by New Hacker Allegation”

Getting unauthorized access to someone else’s phone is a felony in the US. Lots of people have gone to jail for that.
In the US a few years ago a reporter working on an expose of a Fortune 500 corporation dialed into their phone system after an inside source gave him a password.
He got caught, eset nod32 username and password as I recall, he was convicted of a crime, the corporation settled a large damage suit against the newspaper, and the newspaper retracted the story, even though it was a legitimate story about corporate wrongdoing.
